SANTA FE SPRINGS —  Don’t miss the WON/Sav-On Tackle second annual White Seabass Seminar hosted by WON Editor Pat McDonell with great information provided by the white seabass professors Scott Aalbers and Chugey Sepulveda of PIER Institute. The seminar will also offer a host of experts and tackle reps.

AN OVERFLOW CROWD of 150 people showed up at last year’s first annual WSB Seminar at Santa Fe Springs.

“Last year we had a full house of 150 people and turned away another 50,” said WON Editor Pat McDonell. “People are starved for information on catching the white seabass, the science of it, plus the drawings and dinner and tackle giveaways and discounts add to the allure. It’s a great venue too, behind the store in their parking lot, and we’ll have the Seeker Transom Stage and sound system too. Plus Spiderwire will be there with their knot-testing machine, giving instruction and gifts.”

The cost for the Thursday, May 9 seminar, prepaid by credit card over the phone or in person at Sav-On Tackle from now until the event, is $10.  For that fee and a paid reservation required before the event, you get two hours of instruction by top charter captains, tickets for drawings from several sponsors, free gifts, 20 percent off the retail  price on products from Promar, Owner, and Spiderwire  and others. to be added) and the latest  by scientists and top WSB anglers Scott Aalbers and Chugey Sepulveda of the Pfleger Institute, and a Taco Surf dinner, catered by the Taco Surf Truck just before the seminar begins. Check-in begins at 5:30, food is served at 6 p.m. and the seminar begins promptly at 6:30.

The timing is prime for the seminar, in the spring and just before the May 18-19 WON/Yamaha Catalina White Seabass Championship at Two Harbors. Among the drawing prizes is one $350 value spot on an Options 6-pack trip, two Avet reels, a Seeker rod, Spiderwire, Owner and Lazersharp hooks, and from San Pedro Bait Co. is a wad of great clothing and packs of their new frozen fresh dead squid perfect for your next WSB trip.
