EL MONTE – The LACLAYS Shooting Park was the perfect venue for the introduction of the new Blaser FBX over/under shotgun. WON was invited to the event by John Herkowitz, President and Owner of Pacific Sporting Arms, 626-633-1002, located in the city of Azusa.
Herkowitz, joined up with Blaser’s Josh McBrayer, Director of Shotgun Sales and Rachel Barringer, Digital Manager, to show case the new shotgun to shooting enthusiasts. The event attracted many trap and skeet, doubles and sporting clays shooters from Southern California and a special field was reserved for attendees to live-shoot new Blaser shotguns.
This WON Sr. Hunting Writer had an opportunity to talk to Herkowitz about the new shotgun and he went on to say, “I have a background of some 40 years of designing and building firearms with some of the most famous manufacturers in the shooting sports industry. I have been working with Blazer since 2003 and this new Blazer FXB is one of the finest in over/under shotguns at the range. This shotgun is made in Germany and features a high-grade hand finished and high-end checkered walnut stock and fore-end. The shotgun has an adjustable stock to fit an individual shooter, and a new balancer system that is integrated within the shotgun. All steel visible surfaces have elegant black DLC coating.”
Herkowitz went on to add, “The modern Fat Body receiver combines a traditional design with optimum balance and stability. The receiver is of monocoque design with a detachable trigger unit that allows for easy maintenance. This Blaser comes complete with a Briley five choke system.”

WON then stepped up to the shooting line with the new Blaser FBX in hand, with Josh at my back to launch targets and report on busted clays. By design, the shotgun was hefty to help reduce recoil, but it pointed well and was smooth while swinging on a clay target.
Those at the event talked about the new Blaser FBX and compared it to other high-end over/under sporting clays shotguns. Paul Cain, an instructor of So Cal Top Guns, a youth shotgun training and education school, said, “I liked the feel of the new Blazer on the range and compared it favorably to his personal sporting clays shotgun.
According to Herkowitz the Blazer FBX will be available for delivery by the end of May and added that there will be only a limited number of 100 FBX’s produced this year. The suggested MSRP price is $13,995.
While this the initial production of the FBX is limited to a sporting clays design, the shotgun can be modified to adapt to trap, skeet and doubles designs.
