POINT LOMA –  Captain Dylan Gerson introduced Matador Sportfishing as the newest addition to San Diego’s fleet. Formerly the Truth dive boat operating out of Santa Barbara, the 72-foot Matador is currently undergoing “a full head-to-toe retrofit with the anglers’ comfort, experience and fishing success in mind” according to Gerson’s announcement.

“It’s going to become one of the nicer boats in the fleet,” Gerson told Western Outdoor News. “The boat will do 1- to 3-day trips out of H&M Landing, mostly private charters with select open-party trips and a lot of sponsored stuff.”

The Matador is getting a full suite of top-of-the-line electronics and has a huge live bait capacity, two full-size restrooms, indoor showers and a spacious galley within its wide, very fishy platform.

Gerson went on to tell WON he will be at the helm “99 percent of the time, but most likely 100.” The Matador is wide (25.5 feet), low to the water and will fish with up to 29 passengers. Booking after August 1 is already available, but Gerson said he hopes to have the Matador fishing as early as June.
