Each year, the ICAST Show is filled with new product from hundreds of brands in the fishing industry. However, the folks at Lew’s seem to always stand out, each year coming to market with the most cutting-edge technology in rods, reels and accessories to make our time on the water a little easier and a little more productive. When it comes to productivity on the water, ounces make all the difference in not just the weigh-in scales, but also in the weight of your reel and fatigue that comes from it. Weighing in at just 4.9 ounces, the new Custom Lite SLP baitcast reel is the lightest reel ever produced by Lew’s. This means less fatigue, which equals more time on the water and more casts.

In this case, “Lite” does not mean “watered down” or cheap. The Custom Lite SLP features a “TansoTech” carbon fiber frame and a titanium, aircraft-grade Duralumin 30mm spool picking up 28” of line per handle turn. On the engineering side, this piece of equipment features an 11-bearing system with Lews’ P2 Super Pinion, which provides better gear mesh for smoother cranking, longer casts and extended gear life. Matched with the externally adjustable 6-pin, 27-position QuietCast Adjustable Centrifugal Braking (ACB) system, the Custom Lite SLP is dialed in for precise adjustment, long casts and tight quarters accuracy.

The bowed, lightweight 95mm carbon fiber handle with EVA paddle knobs keep things light and comfortable while on the water. Offered in both right and left-handed versions, this reel is the correct reel for anyone.

On the retail shelf, the Custom Lite SLP rings in at an MSRP of $279.99.
