Fujifilm is a sleeping giant in the binocular game, and those in the know are taking advantage of very high performance at a price point well below that of other brands of “gyros” with Fujinon binos. According to the Fujifilm reps at ICAST, the 1440 (14 x 40) model has been their sweet spot and it’s the most popular model with anglers. WON has been checking these out on the water here in the heart of the saltwater season, and the performance has been impressive to say the least.
WON’s Landon Thomas was the first staffer to give them a full on-the-water test, and the first words out of his mouth upon his return were about the product’s ergonomics. He was fishing around Catalina in a small boat when he put them to the test, and he was able to use them with confidence without feeling like they might slip out of his hands if a swell snuck up on him.
The Fujinon TS-X 1440 features the world’s first originally-developed Electronic Gyro Stabilizing System. That technology is built around an electronic gyro sensor that detects any and all movement which keeps the prism stable. One could go on forever with a word salad describing the features and tech in great detail, but it really is something a boater has to see to believe.
Thomas said targets were easily acquired, the “vibration correction” was unbelievable, and the overall performance was unwavering at a wide range of distances. About a week later, he brought the Fujis on a trip aboard El Patron, and Captain Adrian Chavez was able to use them side-by-side with the gyros he had on the boat.
Again, it was the ergonomics that came up first, saying they “felt good in my hands,” and he appreciated how they were “less bulky” and quite a bit lighter than what he typically uses.
It should go without saying that the Fujinon TS-X 1440 is not only waterproof but it also floats, and considering all it delivers and how it compares to other gyros on the market, they are available at a very impressive price point.
Check them out at FujiFilm.com in person at Baker Marine in San Diego, and look for them at the 2025 PCS Show.
