SANTEE— I was fishing at Santee Lakes with my brother and some of my friends, and we were getting barely any bites while using big swimbaits. I decided to throw a different big swimbait, the Hawg Hunter, and I went onto the dock on Lake 4 and took a couple casts by that dock and got no bites or followers.

I then casted toward the bank and slowly reeled it into the dock until I felt really heavy weight. At first I thought it was a snag and I had just lost the bait, but then my drag started peeling and I knew the fish was big. I didn’t know how big it was until I saw it jump and I yelled “giant!” and my buddy came over and saw the fish jump.

The thing about the dock at Lake 4 is there is a big pipe down there, so I had to get the fish’s head over the pipe. When I lifted the head up, my buddy said the fish was pinned really good so he went in and grabbed the fish and pulled it out of the water. We got it on scale right after, and it weighed 10-pounds, 10 ounces. Four months ago, my brother caught a double-digit bass, and now we both have double digits.
