Anglers asked to take short survey to help get the ball rolling

IRVINE – A local fishing family has decided to take what are hopefully the first steps toward bringing boating back to Irvine Lake. After noticing a call-to-action in the form of a short survey, Western Outdoor News reached out to Yasmin Fletcher who launched the campaign with her husband, Kyle.

“Irvine Lake offers local world class fishing, multiple species, all four seasons of the year” said Kyle Fletcher, 2013 Memorial Day Team Trout Derby Winner when asked about why he wants to get boating back onto the lake.

“It was the best, with the snack shack there we would grab breakfast burritos on our way out and then a cheeseburger for weigh in.  Bait, worms, last-minute PowerBait, hooks, swivels, cold drinks, whatever you needed.  I remember some of the coolest times fishing was being able to go catfighting next to Ronson Smothers!  He had the super-secret bait, secret sauce, and he knew where the monster blues were.  Irvine Lake was great for fishing because it was a 5 to10 mph wake lake, speed limited, so there was no wake or big waves rocking the boat all of the time, it was really pleasant.  No speedboats, just boats there for fishing. Always a nice day out on the lake.”

Irvine Lake had the whole package, launch ramps, boat rentals, tournaments, stocked lake, and a cafe!  Please join us in getting it back to its former glory.
