More temporary changes coming to WON due to the COVID-19 health emergency

SAN CLEMENTE – Western Outdoor News has been published weekly without fail since 1954, so it is no light matter to make this announcement. Beginning with the Friday, May 8, 2020 edition, every other week the paper will be available in digital form only on the internet.

This is a temporary circumstance necessitated by the global COVID-19 pandemic. On the alternate weeks, you’ll receive a traditional paper edition. All print subscribers will have their subscriptions automatically extended an issue for every online only edition published.

On the digital-only weeks, your digital edition will usually be ready Tuesday afternoon, much more quickly than if the Post Office were involved. The digital edition looks just like the paper version you love.

If anything, we will be bringing you even more content in the digital-only versions during these unprecedented times and the same, classic Western Outdoor News you’ve come to expect in your mailbox every week.

ONCE YOU’RE LOGGED IN to our digital editions archive, click on an issue and you’ll be ready to read it on your PC, Mac or tablet.

Digital editions are easy to access and available via a link on our new website at WONews.com under the Subscriptions tab. You can try it out now.

We are starting to see glimmers of hope. Once the waters we love reopen to fishing, the reports and form charts you rely on will make a return. Until then, our weekly issues will be filled with engaging fishing, guns and hunting features and entertaining columns to take your mind off the troubled times and focused on the great outdoors.

We know going digital only every other week will be an inconvenience to some readers. We apologize. These are extraordinary times, but we’ll get through them together. As soon as society gets back to normal, our plan is to return to paper editions every week, just like the good old days.
