Building on the groundbreaking features introduced in the Fathom II LD last year, offshore and nearshore anglers can now access an affordable reel lineup in expanded sizes that offers unparalleled stopping power.
In 2022, PENN announced an innovative redesign inspired by the highly acclaimed PENN Internationals, incorporating some of their best features into the Fathom II LD/LD2 series. The PENN Squall II LD has followed suit, showcasing an end-to-end reel design meticulously crafted to cater to the needs of avid anglers who demand high-performance gear for high-stakes fishing.
The PENN Squall II Lever Drag is a testament to power and efficiency, boasting a one-piece graphite frame and side plate, eliminating screws on the palm side of the reel creating a more comfortable ergonomic feel, as well as reducing frame weight and increasing strength. It boasts a robust stainless steel main and pinion gear, ensuring a smooth and durable gear train. The inclusion of the revolutionary PENN Dura-Drag system makes quick work of catches like dolphin or kingfish, while possessing the brute strength required to thwart any unexpected wahoo daring to smoke your reel. First introduced in the Fathom II LD and now featured in the Squall II LD, this reel showcases a pull-to-turn preset knob that, once dialed in, remains immovable, enabling anglers to establish their desired settings without concerns of unexpected drag hiccups during critical moments.
The Squall II LD spans an extensive range from 25N to 60, ensuring a suitable reel for every angling scenario. The reel adds a 40N high-speed model, optimized for light drag applications, paired with a 20 lb mono line, making it perfect for sailfish and even light-line kingfish.
This series also includes combos featured in five sizes, including one billfish model paired with the PENN Squall II rod, featuring graphite composite blanks and one-piece stainless-steel Dura-Guides, which eliminate guide inserts and further increase durability.
