OLD GLORY OPAH They got these three in the daylight but their tuna in the dark, on a 1.5 dayer. At press-time the offshore fleet was all headed west for a zone south of the banks a few miles. The bluefin were on the larger side, a bit beyond the fly-line-on-40 grade, but good on 80 and the night jig gear. PHOTO BY CAPT KLEY WILLIAMS

SAN DIEGO –  The bite re-emerged but this time out in 1.5-day range almost due west of the Point (Point Loma, San Diego). But a longer trip is providing the better chances as the night jigging bite is providing the better chances at landing these larger fish.

The Old Glory was out on a 1.5-day however and got a 3-way in the daylight, but on huge opah. Capt. Kley Williams posted a photo of the big goldfish. They also picked up 16 bluefin and a whole slew of rockfish for their efforts – 290 for their 29 anglers. Bluefin scores over the weekend ranged on upwards of 60 to 70 and the scores also included good numbers of yellowtail and at least a few rockfish to boot. The Pacific Queen was back form a 3 dayer with 65 tuna to 110 pounds and 87 yellowtail. The New Lo-An had 25 tuna to 130, 16 yellow, 2 lings and 88 reds for 22 anglers on a 2-day.
