Kenji Nakagawa’s ‘glide baits for trophy linesides’ submission earns angler one of three Penn Fathom 25 2-speed lever drag reels
SAN CLEMENTE – Once again, Western Outdoor News readers came through. We asked and you responded, with no fewer than at least 20 reader submissions for our second annual WON Writing Contest. Lots of great stories and fun fishing and hunting antidotes filed into WON Headquarters and made it awfully tough to choose the first of three monthly winners, but in the end, it was Kenji Nakagawa’s entry titled “Techniques and tackle for targeting trophy linesides with glide baits” (Feb. 5 issue, page 6) that took the top spot in the contest for January.
The January winner will claim one of three Penn Fathom 25 2-speed lever drags, with the other pair going to the eventual winners in February and March.
As of press time we had received only a handful of submissions for the month, so be
sure to throw your hat in the ring with your best fishing or hunting story for a shot at taking February’s prize — the three monthly winners will also have the opportunity to contribute to WON in future issues.
There’s still plenty of time to get in on the contest, so break out that laptop and write us your favorite fishing or hunting story, break down your top tried-and-true fishing tech- niques and tactics, or describe your favorite one-of-a-kind destination adventure and send it to us in a Word document (approx. 600-1,000 words give or take) along with 1-4 photos at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Writing Contest” in the subject line. Deadline to qualify for the February portion of the contest is Feb. 28, and the contest ends March 31, so be sure to get in on the fun and take your stab at winning a new Penn lever drag. We look forward to reading more of your best stories from the great outdoors.
