KENJI NAKAGAWA is January’s winner of the Western Outdoor News Readers’ Writing Contest, earning him a Penn Fathom 25 2- speed lever drag reel and an opportunity to potentially write future stories for WON. The Writing Contest runs through the month of March, and there will be two more monthly winners who will each earn the same reel and future writing opportunity, so submit your story (600-1,000 words with 1-4 photos) to editors@wonews.com and put “Writing Contest” in the subject line of your email. Good luck!

sure to throw your hat in the ring with your best fishing or hunting story for a shot at taking February’s prize — the three monthly winners will also have the opportunity to contribute to WON in future issues.

There’s still plenty of time to get in on the contest, so break out that laptop and write us your favorite fishing or hunting story, break down your top tried-and-true fishing tech- niques and tactics, or describe your favorite one-of-a-kind destination adventure and send it to us in a Word document (approx. 600-1,000 words give or take) along with 1-4 photos at editors@wonews.com with “Writing Contest” in the subject line. Deadline to qualify for the February portion of the contest is Feb. 28, and the contest ends March 31, so be sure to get in on the fun and take your stab at winning a new Penn lever drag. We look forward to reading more of your best stories from the great outdoors.
